My Room is an Otaku Museum

UPDATE (May 13, 2009) - My Room is an Otaku Museum Part 3

This week of sitting around before summer semester starts has been pretty uneventful. I was able to do everything I set out to do (pick up GTA, see Iron Man, and set up more shelves). So, I thought it was time to show my room as it is now (because I probably won't be buying anything for the rest of the month).

Here we have my first big shelf:
Evangelion, Saber/Alter, FF and FMA Play Arts, Rei Collection, Haruhi Suzumiya Figma, Altaiir, Cammy, Vegeta, Bleach. On the bottom are my miniatures.

Moving to the right of that shelf above my bed are my new shelves:
(Left) Busou Shinki, Max Factory Haruhi (Right) FF Potion, DBZ, Saber, Genshiken, Nendoroid Hatsune Miku and Haruhi Suzumiya.

On the other side of the room is my big shelf which is mostly FF Play Arts:

Here's my closet, a view from my comfortable chair (which is in the closet, yes). As you can see it has been made into an anime viewing room:

To finish things off here are some close-ups of some notable areas:
Shelves above my PC
Play Arts 1
Play Arts 2
Nendoroid-Petit
Haruhi Figmas
Small Rei Collection
Busou and Haruhi Max Factory
Nendoroid and Others

Yes I am a big freakin' otaku. But I have a life, it's just very tiny.

What?
There's not a single object in your visible collection from any of the works of Rumiko Takahashi.
Your room is not an otaku museum.
It's just a mainstream mess and a J-pop jumble.

I'M FREAKING OUT HERE! You Are my role Model For Life. Please Tech me your ways of Otaku.

Serious though, it really is all mainstream and pop stuff. I didn't see anything rare or anything I can't just find on E-Bay. Here's how to optimize and look more masculine.

First, Evangelion is over, the world ended, those annoying kids died, everyone died. Most irritating and depressing anime ever. Ditch everything except the Rei figures ;) she was the bringer of doom.

Second, the Final Fantasy shelf is a jumbled mess of characters from the cool games and one's from the shitty games. Ditch everything but the FF7 figures ;) (oh, and I dig the pterodactyl plushie, it's like they're fighting a dragon!)

Third, wtf is up with all the chibi girlie figures? Flush them down the toilet.

Fourth, DBZ is dead, it has been very painful for me to come to terms with that. My inner child dies a little each time someone looks at my Vegeta wallscroll and says "oh yeah, I liked DBZ...back in 8th grade" and then they laugh :(

and Fifth...you have Medabots mangas. I won't even say anything about the Negimas (*cough* tenshi-potter), but Medabots? it doesn't fit anywhere into this room...nor anyone else's. I don't remember any kids who liked that show and since Fox aired it for like only a month, most kids don't even remember it. I mean....Medabots? Was Pikachu not hardcore enough? Was Yu-gi-oh too adult and scary? Medabots? I don't even remember what the fuck a Medabot is, but I'll guarantee that the whole story is about kids collecting them and fighting them while the little brats yammer lame one-liners that would make Schwarzenegger proud, am I right? (stay COOL, Batman!)

...sorry about that rant. I'm not trying to make you cry or anything, I just thought that since this is an open forum that maybe I could actually give an honest opinion.

With that said, I do like the FLCL wallscroll. But sell all the excess crap and buy a bigger monitor. Good night folks!

First of all, you obviously haven't seen my follow up post made a couple of months ago called "My Room is an Otaku Museum Part 2" where I reorganized everything.

Secondly, although most of your comments and suggestions WOULD indeed make my room all that more badass, this is a personal collection, not ACTUALLY a museum, and I'm sorry but I'm not going to let someone else tell me what's "cool" and what's not. These are things I enjoy having around my room to look at and I felt like sharing them with others.

Also, I don't own Medabots mangas. I don't know WHAT you're pointing out haha.
